Mount Everest will be closed due to the coronavirus. Nepalese tourism is again threatened with collapse.
There is no more traffic to the top, there are no new deaths, and there is no garbage. The coronavirus pandemic has made this possible.
Following the virus, the Nepalese government announced a ban on expeditions south of Everest and all other mountains in the country.
Those in charge of Kathmandu followed the example of the Sino-Tibetan authorities, who had disavowed foreigners to climb any of the mountains of Tibet, including the northern slope of Everest. According to reports, only one Chinese expedition remains to climb Everest up that slope.
